FAQs
Why is Council proposing pedestrian improvements to Surf Lane, Cronulla?
The Cronulla Town Centre Public Domain Masterplan identifies Surf Lane as a key pedestrian link. Pedestrian and other activity in the laneway continues to increase as the town centre continues to redevelop. Council is looking to improve pedestrian safety and the road environment for all road users in Surf Lane.
You can see the proposed footpath locations in our maps section.
To support new footpaths in Surf Lane why is time-limited parking in nearby areas being proposed?
New footpaths will require the removal of 7 existing time-limited parking spaces in Surf Lane. To help offset this loss of parking it is proposed to introduce some additional time limited parking in nearby areas. This will improve parking availability in these streets and the likelihood that people can access a parking space near Surf Lane.
You can see the proposed changes to parking in our maps section.
Will there be any changes to the Loading Zones in Surf Lane?
New footpaths will require some minor changes to the location of loading zones in Surf Lane to the north of Ocean Grove Avenue. The changes will still ensure that sufficient area is provided for service vehicles to deliver and pick up goods at surrounding businesses. We are also proposing to make loading zones available for parking outside of delivery hours.
What are the next steps?
The final outcomes of the consultation are reported to Council via the Sutherland Traffic and Traffic Safety Committee in August 2023 and will be reported back to the community via this page.
