Policy and Procedure under review - January 2024

Consultation has concluded

Consultation period: 8 January 2024 - 5 February 2024

Council has reviewed and updated the following policy and procedures and would like your feedback:

Public Interest Disclosures Policy

We have reviewed and updated our Public Interest Disclosures Policy.

Council encourages and supports the reporting of wrongdoing and is committed to protecting those who report wrongdoing from any adverse action motivated by their report and keeping their identity confidential where possible.

In accordance with the Public Interest Disclosures Act 2022 (PID Act) this policy provides a framework for those who perform public official functions to report certain types of serious wrongdoing, classified as ‘public interest disclosures’, without fear of detrimental action and to support the management of these reports.

Procedures for the Administration of the Codes of Conduct

We have reviewed and updated our Procedures for the Administration of the Codes of Conduct.

Our Codes of Conduct set the minimum standards of conduct for our Officials. Councillors, Council employees, delegates of Council and Council advisers must comply with the provisions of these codes.

The Procedures for the Administration of the Codes of Conduct support the enforcement of the standards set out in the Codes of Conduct and prescribe the pathways for the management of codes of conduct complaints.

The procedures are prescribed for the administration of the Model Code of Conduct for Local Councils in NSW (“the Model Code of Conduct”).
