Shaping the Caringbah Place Plan
Our town centres play a vital everyday role as places where our community lives, shops, works, relaxes and connects.
Located at the intersection of two major roads and serviced by a railway station, Caringbah Town Centre is an important hub for retail, health and leisure services, as well as housing, for our community.
We want to strengthen the centre’s vibrancy and make it a better place to visit and call home. Place Plans play an important role in this process, helping to set a clear vision for how our town centres grow and change over time.
We are in the early stages of preparing a draft Place Plan for Caringbah which will provide a clear and coordinated framework to guide future growth and infrastructure opportunities.
A key focus of the plan is identifying opportunities for additional housing, and more jobs, alongside the right infrastructure to support this change.
The plan will build on feedback from previous community consultation completed in late 2021 about the future of Caringbah. Through that consultation, the community highlighted opportunities to:
- create safe, clean, vibrant and inviting spaces
- redevelop key commercial sites
- enhance the library and pool precinct
- modernise buildings
- support some increase in density within the town centre.
The proposed Place Plan will bring together these comments, along with new ideas and feedback collected through this process, to shape a shared vision for Caringbah’s future.
