Planning for Don Lucas Reserve, Cronulla

Don Lucas Reserve in Cronulla is a key recreational area for the Sutherland Shire. Council is looking at ways to improve how the space is used and provide better opportunities for recreation. The improvements aim to support active lifestyles now and in the future.

Council consulted with the community between November and December 2020 regarding upgrades to the fitness and sports facilities at Don Lucas Reserve. Feedback we received during this consultation has helped shape a concept design for an improved basketball court and new fitness equipment. This work is scheduled to start in early 2022.

While we proceed with improving the fitness facilities at Don Lucas Reserve, we know more improvements can be made. Council is preparing a draft Masterplan to set out the future vision for the Reserve and the opportunities for improved recreation.

Next steps

Following community feedback, Council will prepare a draft Masterplan for Don Lucas Reserve. The draft Masterplan will then be available for community review and feedback early in 2022.
