Catchment and Waterway Management Strategy and Implementation Plan

Consultation period: 15 September to 18 October 2021

The waterways of the Sutherland Shire are some of the Shire’s most highly valued natural assets and contribute significantly to our community’s quality of life. Sutherland Shire Council is now drafting a strategy to protect and enhance our waterways and the catchments draining to them.

This Strategy will set the long term direction for the sustainable management of stormwater assets, creeks, floodplains, catchments and coasts across the Sutherland Shire. It will also set actions for implementation over the short and medium term.

Have your say

We are seeking your input to the strategy. In particular we are interested to hear your views on what you value about the Shire's waterways, your issues and your aspirations for the future.

You can provide comments until Monday 18 October 2021:

  • Online by taking the survey below
  • In writing to Stormwater and Waterway Assets, Sutherland Shire Council, Locked Bag 17, Sutherland 1499.

Next steps

Council will review comments received and use them to help inform the draft Catchment and Waterway Management Strategy and Implementation Plan. The draft Strategy will be publicly exhibited in March/April 2022. The strategy will then be updated, finalised and formally adopted by Council.

For more information please contact our Stormwater and Waterway Assets team on 9710 0333.
