Council is reviewing the Alcohol Free Zones (AFZs) within Sutherland Shire. The Local Government Act allows for the creation of AFZs which restrict the consumption of alcohol within local government areas such as roads, footpaths and public car parks. AFZs help to improve public safety, acting as an early intervention measure to prevent the escalation of irresponsible street drinking to incidents involving serious crime. All of the existing AFZs within Sutherland Shire are currently under review for reinstallation.
