Consultation Period: 22 September to 3 November 2021

About the Waratah Park Masterplan

Sutherland Shire Council and landscape architects, Phillips Marler have prepared a draft Masterplan for Waratah Park in Sutherland to guide its future use and development.

Waratah Park includes Sutherland Leisure Centre, Sutherland Basketball Stadium, Sylvanvale Garden House, Bee Garden Museum and Education Centre, tennis courts, athletics field, baseball diamonds and sporting fields, cycling criterium track, mountain bike track, and bushland.

Over the past 12 months, Council has consulted with key community representatives about how the space is used and potential improvements. Council’s objective is to deliver a Masterplan that will:

• Expand and develop the identity of Waratah Park site as a Sports Park

• Create a diverse and sustainable parkland

The Masterplan is a long-term planning document which provides a coordinated approach for the way open space is improved into the future and will inform a Plan of Management for Waratah Park.

What's changing?

We are proposing to expand pedestrian and cycling facilities, create an all-abilities playground, enhance our sports fields and facilities, preserve the beautiful natural environment and create new recreational areas.
