Draft Verge Garden Policy

Consultation period: 22 January 2024 - 19 February 2024

Council encourages planting in the verge, otherwise known as the nature strip, to create a vibrant community, enhance the amenity of public spaces and promote social activity.

We have drafted our Verge Garden Policy that outlines the considerations and requirements of verge garden planting to balance the needs of pedestrian access, utility services, garbage collection, kerb-side parking, and public infrastructure.

The draft policy provides a framework for Council to issue approvals for verge gardens that are created, installed and maintained by the resident.
