Reviewing our Sport Strategy and Implementation Plan
We’re reviewing the Sutherland Shire Sport Strategy and Implementation Plan (2022–2037) to reflect how people play, train and stay active today — and what will be needed in the years ahead.
We know things are changing, not just in how people play, but in what they value in shared spaces and public facilities. The new strategy won't just about organised sport; it will also be about creating welcoming, flexible spaces for informal and social activity. As our community grows, we want to make sure everyone has fair access to quality sports spaces, no matter where they live.
The overall strategic direction set by Council remains in place. However, as part of this review, we want to identify opportunities to strengthen or update the strategy where needed.
A key part of this review is updating the Implementation Plan. The new implementation plan will guide priorities for investment, facilities, programs and policy, helping to deliver positive outcomes for health, inclusion and liveability in the years ahead. This will ensure sport and recreation in Sutherland Shire continues to evolve with community needs.

If you don’t have a story to share, we’d still love to hear your ideas on how we can strengthen sport and recreation in our community. What would make it easier for people to get involved, stay active or feel included?
