Will the tennis facilities plan consider provisions for complementary formats, such as pickleball?
As part of this review, Council will also investigate ways we can support complementary formats, such as pickleball, padel tennis, POP tennis and beach tennis, in Sutherland Shire.
What consultation with the community has been done so far?
Council asked for input from the community in 2021 as we prepared the Sport Strategy and Implementation Plan, and again in 2022 when we shared the draft Strategy. The community feedback that we received about tennis will be considered as we prepare the Tennis Facilities Plan.
Council has already began consulting key stakeholder groups including clubs, lease holders, coaches, schools, state organisations and the Sport and Active Communities Sub-Committee. Stakeholder workshops will be held in May 2024.
