Planning for Golf Facilities

Council is reviewing the golf facilities in Sutherland Shire to make sure we can cater for the future needs of the sport and plan for the increasing demand for parks and open space in our community.

The review will include three public golf facilities located in Woolooware, Kareela and Barden Ridge, and will also consider the provision of golf across other private facilities, as shown in the map.

Council is committed to providing our community with opportunities to stay active and enjoy the outdoors. Council adopted a Sport Strategy and Implementation Plan in 2022 to deliver on this commitment. Developing a Golf Facilities Plan is one of the key priorities in the Strategy.

The Plan will:

  • review the distribution and performance of Council-owned golf facilities
  • evaluate the role they play in the open space network and assess potential opportunities for broader community use
  • guide decision-making for asset development and improvements in line with future population needs
  • prioritise the recommendations into short, medium and long-term actions to be implemented over the next 10 years.
