Proposal to Rename Green Hills Parklands to Marang Parklands

Consultation has concluded.

At its meeting on 5 December 2016, Council resolved to support a proposal to rename Greenhills Parklands to Marang Parklands. In recent times there has been an increased awareness of the Dharawal Aboriginal language and a greater acknowledgement of the Dharawal people in the Sutherland Shire. Marang is a Dharwal language word meaning 'sandhill.' The proposed Marang Parklands covers the new sporting and open space facilities at Greenhills and does not affect the naming of residential areas.

Before submitting a recommendation to the Geographical Names Board, Council invites feedback from the community regarding the proposal.
