Outdoor Dining Policy and Schedules Review
Consultation period: 30 May - 27 June 2024
Council’s Outdoor Dining Policy was adopted in March 2022.
The purpose of the Policy is to provide a framework for Council to issue approvals for outdoor dining and make it easy for restaurants to expand dining activities outdoors.
Outdoor dining includes a public footpath, public spaces and parks that adjoin an existing business where it’s safe and appropriate.
The revised Policy includes updated Schedules which provide detailed standards for Council to issue approvals for outdoor dining on a public footway, and other similar places in the Public Domain. The Schedules provide guidance for businesses in the application process.
Outdoor dining promotes social activity, creates a vibrant community and stimulates business growth.
