New Library, Technology and Community Hub in Kirrawee

Council is planning for an exciting new community space in the heart of Kirrawee at South Village.

Responding to feedback on our Library Strategy, the multipurpose space will support our whole community to learn, come together and make the most of digital services and new media.

Features of the flexible, technology-focused hub will include:

  • a large bookable event space
  • study, co-working and meeting space
  • a Media Lab including green screen and recording studio
  • flexible bookshelves and self-service options.

You can view the draft design and read more in our FAQs.

Thanks to the 100+ people who shared their feedback on our plans for a new technology-focused hub at South Village, Kirrawee.

Our community was overwhelmingly supportive of the proposed design, featuring community spaces for events and screenings, study/coworking/meeting spaces, studio spaces (including green screen, recording and podcasting), plus flexible bookshelves and self-service options.

Based on your feedback, we’re updating the design to include:

    • a children’s area for reading, play and storytimes
    • a multi-use quiet space for parents and people with sensory needs
    • more space for collaboration and work/study.

We’re excited to share the final design soon, with construction of the new state-of-the-art facility expected to start in mid-2024.
