Update on Local Housing Strategy

In late 2023, significant planning reforms were proposed by the NSW Department of Planning Housing and Infrastructure. As State reform may have significant impacts to housing capacity and delivery in local areas, Council has resolved to defer the draft Local Housing Strategy and the draft Affordable Housing Contribution Scheme until the impact of the reforms are known. We will continue to progress the Place Plans for Sutherland/ Kirrawee, Caringbah, Miranda, Engadine, and Menai to improve housing options and support for business in centres, in keeping with Council’s Local Strategic Planning Statement (LSPS) and Delivery Program / Operational Plan 2022-26. We expect to share an update on these Plans with our community later in 2024.
