Draft Sport Field Allocation Policy

Consultation period: 12 August - 8 September 2024

Council is preparing a Sport Field Allocation Policy that will help to manage the demand for Council-owned and/or managed sport fields across sports clubs/associations and the wider community. The development of this policy is a focus of the Sports Strategy and Implementation Plan 2022-2037.

The policy will:

  • Ensure fair and equitable access to sport fields for all user groups within the community
  • Optimise the use of sports fields to accommodate the increasing demand
  • Enhance communication and collaboration between Council and users by providing transparent and consistent rules for allocation and usage of sports fields.

The Principles of the Sports Field Allocation Policy are outlined in detail in the attached Schedules (p. 7 to 23) and include:

  • A: Equity of access
  • B: Optimal usage of sports fields
  • C: Minimising impact on surrounding residents
  • D: Protect public infrastructure
  • E: Insurance and liability.
