This is Sutherland Shire's first dedicated sport strategy, developed in close consultation with our community, including sporting codes, associations and relevant Council business units.
The Strategy aims to establish a framework which will positively contribute to an active, safe, healthy, vibrant and liveable community over the next 15 years, one that:
Delivers a plan for growth – to ensure sports assets meet the needs of current and future generations of the Sutherland Shire.
Promotes participation, accessibility and inclusion –to encourage and provide access for people of all ages, physical abilities and interests to participate in sport improving health and well being.
Delivers programs and frameworks – to establish prioritised programs, polices and resources that will ensure optimal use, manage commercial pressures, and allocation of sporting assets.
Informs collaborative strategic asset management – to ensure the design, configuration, renewal and maintenance of our sporting assets maximise capacity and participation aligning with the needs of the community.
Provides value for the community – determining appropriate service levels and resource allocation to meet needs and deliver best value from sport facility investment and management.
Supports and engages sports clubs and associations – to ensure good governance, sustainable operations and effective facility planning and development.
