Council currently holds funds (developer contributions) collected as a consequence of the subdivision of lands in Woronora Heights. This proposed Works Schedule lists traffic management projects identified to be funded by these contributions. The aim of undertaking the projects is to improve the road network south of Woronora Heights, to better define the road hierarchy and to improve traffic efficiency and road safety.

BACKGROUND

The On 15 April 1982 conditional development consent was granted to subdivide land at Woronora Heights, subject to the following condition:

“The payment of a contribution of $1500 per residential lot shall be payable to Council towards the cost of roadworks providing access to the subdivision.”

The subsequent subdivision of Woronora Heights has resulted in development contributions being held by Council.

At the time, it was envisaged that the development contributions would be used for a northern road link. However, in July 2002, Council resolved (EHC031-03) to not support the northern road link and instead rezone the land. At its meeting on 2 March 2015, Council voted unanimously to commit again that it has no intention of constructing a public road on the Woronora Fire Trail.

Accordingly, it is proposed to use the remainder of the contributions towards the cost of other roadworks providing improved access to Woronora Heights consistent with the purpose for which the contributions have been made.

On the 20th April 2015 (WKS140-15) Council resolved to exhibit the following proposals for works to improve traffic flow and safety in Engadine and Woronora Heights.

PROPOSED WORKS

  • Shared path in the eastern footpath of Bundanoon Road – from the existing shared path to the intersection of Bundanoon Road with the fire trail linking to The Crescent (Figure A).
  • Kerb and guttering on the eastern side of Bundanoon Road through bush land (Figure B).
  • Signalisation of the intersection of Caldarra Avenue and Anzac Avenue (Figure C).
