Concept Design - Como Pleasure Grounds Playground Renewal

Como Pleasure Grounds is a well-loved open space that has long been an important part of Como and surrounding communities.

The site is a popular recreational destination located on the banks of the George’s River offering scenic views and is a site that has retained much of its unique parkland character and appeal.

The new playground will complement the Pleasure Grounds by making thoughtful connections to its local history through the design of its play equipment and landscape features. The playground will provide an engaging and an inclusive play experience for a broader range of play. The project will also include improved path works, picnic facilities and an uplift to landscape and garden beds.

A proposed concept design has been developed based on community feedback

Proposed Concept Design Features:

  • A paddle steamer main play unit, inspired by the park's local history.
  • A variety of swings, slides, climbing, and spinning equipment for all ages and abilities.
  • Accessible play opportunities within the main unit and carousel.
  • Upgraded walking paths to improve accessibility and connections within the park.
  • Upgraded picnic and seating areas, including a water bottle-filling station.
  • New garden beds and improved pathways.
