A new park for Caringbah: Concept design

Visualisation of new park showing play space and open green area

Consultation period: 23 October - 20 November 2026

We're planning a new community park for the Caringbah Town Centre, and we'd like your feedback on the concept design.

The proposed park is located on the corner of Willarong Road and The Kingsway (see location map), on land previously purchased by Council for community use.

Through previous consultation, many people told us Caringbah would benefit from a central gathering place where people can meet, relax and spend time outdoors.

The new park concept design aims to provide this through:

  • High-quality public open space within easy walking distance of homes, workplaces and the town centre
  • A greener place to relax and connect with others
  • Staged parking adjustments on surrounding roads
  • More shade and tree canopy
  • Improved walking and cycling connections
How will this impact parking?

The new park would create more room for play, relaxation and trees in the heart of Caringbah by incorporating Council’s existing 19-space off-street carpark on Willarong Road and 16 parking spaces on Flide Street.

We know parking matters to local workers, businesses and visitors. Informed by community feedback and independent parking studies, the proposal adds nearby spaces and uses three-hour limits to encourage turnover, helping more people find parking throughout the day.

The proposal includes:

  • Gardere Street: 19 additional spaces including accessible and motorbike parking, with three-hour limits (3P), planned ahead of the existing Council carpark’s closure.
  • Willarong Road: three-hour limits and a revised layout with an additional accessible bay and motorbike parking. Removing two on-street spaces would allow significant native trees to be retained and the footpath improved.

Together, these changes would support a greener town centre and better parking turnover, with 18 fewer spaces overall. Council is continuing to coordinate with Homes NSW on the best delivery sequence. See the parking FAQ for details.

What's included in the concept design?
Informed by feedback received during consultation in 2025, the concept design includes:.
  • Perimetre fencing
  • Shade structure with seating
  • Civic plaza space
  • Open lawn area
  • Play space
  • Footpath, lighting and security upgrades
  • Drinking fountain
  • New trees and landscaping
  • Bike racks and bicycle repair station

With the population of Caringbah set to increase over the next decade, a new park will grow our open space network and contribute to a more liveable, connected, and vibrant centre.
