Consultation period: 11 September - 9 October 2024
Council is committed to ensuring that asbestos containing material is managed and controlled to protect the health and wellbeing of our community and staff.
We have updated our Asbestos Management Policy to align with current legislation and Safe Work NSW guidelines to enhance community safety and ensure best practice in asbestos management.
The Policy outlines our commitment to asbestos management and our responsibilities within the community and workplace. This is supported by the Schedule to the Policy which is our Asbestos Management Plan which provides detailed information about asbestos, the role of Council and procedures undertaken by Council.
The Plan is based on the Model Asbestos Policy for NSW Councils as developed by the Heads of Asbestos Coordination Authorities.
