Alcohol Free Zones 2023

Consultation has concluded

Alcohol Free Zones relate to roads, footpaths and public car parks.

Alcohol Free Zones – Sutherland Shire

Consultation period: 17 April to 15 May 2023

Council is reviewing the Alcohol Free Zones within Sutherland Shire and you are invited to give feedback.

The Local Government Act allows for Alcohol Free Zones which restrict the consumption of alcohol within local government areas such as roads, footpaths and public car parks.

Alcohol Free Zones help to improve public safety, acting as an early intervention measure to prevent the escalation of irresponsible street drinking to incidents involving serious crime. These zones are designated for four years. After four years the zones are reviewed and renewed as required. All of the existing Alcohol Free Zones within Sutherland Shire are currently under review for renewal.

You can access maps detailing the zone boundaries and signage for each of the 16 Alcohol Free Zones by clicking on the map links on this page.

The Alcohol Free Zones can also be viewed on ShireMaps. (On the Shire Maps page, you will need to change the map layer to 'Alcohol Free/Prohibited Areas'.)
