What is the Integrated Transport Strategy?
The Integrated Transport Strategy is a key informing strategy under Council’s Integrated Planning and Reporting Framework. The Strategy outlines the key outcomes which will contribute to the convenient and efficient movement of people and goods throughout Sutherland Shire.
How does the Integrated Transport Strategy impact me?
The population of the Sutherland Shire is predicted to grow by more than 30,000 people by 2036, without appropriate planning, population growth will exacerbate many of the current transport challenges. The ITS outlines a long term approach for planning a safe, accessible and sustainable transport system to meet community needs into the future.
Where can I find more detail about what specific projects are planned for Integrated Transport?
A detailed Implementation Plan that includes timeframes, priorities, resources, and responsibilities will be developed to help with delivery of the Strategy. The activities and projects that Council will deliver will be detailed in Council’s four year Delivery Program and annual Operational Plans. What are the dates of public consultation for the draft Strategy?
Consultation is open from 30 October to 26 November 2019.
When and where are the drop-in sessions?
CRONULLA Monday 4 November – 10:30am to 12:30pm outside Cronulla Post Office
ENGADINE Tuesday 12 November – 2pm to 4pm outside Engadine Community Hall
SUTHERLAND Wednesday 13 November – 6pm to 7:30pm Council Admin Centre 2-6 Eton St
How can I give my feedback on the draft Strategy?
Feedback on the draft Strategy can be submitted by:
- Online via Join the Conversation
- In person at one of our drop-in information sessions.
- By email to ssc@ssc.nsw.gov.au
- In writing to Traffic and Public Domain Services Team, Sutherland Shire council, Locked Bag 17, Sutherland 1499.
Submissions must be received by close of business Tuesday 26 November 2019.
What happens next?
Following the exhibition period Council will record and analyse the community feedback. A further report will be presented to Council in February 2020 for final adoption of the strategy including any recommended changes arising from the results of the public exhibition.
Who is responsible for achieving the outcomes in the draft Strategy?
Responsibility for progress towards achieving the Strategy outcomes rests with a range of agencies – with Council, State government authorities and service providers, as well as the broader community all having key parts to play.
The activities that Council will deliver to support progress of the Integrated Transport Strategy will be detailed in Council’s four year Delivery Program and annual Operational Plans.
What does Active Transport mean?
Active transport includes non-motorised forms of transport involving physical activity, such as walking and cycling.
