What is an Alcohol Free Zone?
Alcohol Free Zones (AFZs) apply to roads, carparks and footpaths. AFZs are established by councils and enforcement is undertaken by the NSW
Police. NSW Police are empowered to
seize and dispose of alcohol being consumed in an AFZ 24 hours a day, 7 days
a week. AFZs are designed for a period of four years, after which they
are reviewed and renewed as required.
How do Alcohol Free Zones differ from Alcohol Prohibited Areas?
Alcohol Prohibited Areas (APAs) relate to parks, reserves and beaches. It is prohibited to consume or possess alcohol in an APA.
