Social Media Policy Review

Consultation period: 24 May - 21 June 2024

We have reviewed and updated our existing Social Media Policy.

This Policy outlines Council’s approach to engaging with our community and provides the principles, roles and responsibilities for social media use.

Council strives to engage with our community in an open and accountable manner. We recognise social media plays an important role in this process. It increases community understanding of Council’s purpose and goals, improves transparency, and builds trust.

The Policy review included an assessment against the NSW Office of Local Government Model Social Media Policy, developed in 2022. Council’s existing Policy is substantively consistent with the framework outlined in the OLG Model Social Media Policy, and minor refinements in the revised draft have sought to strengthen alignment to the model policy and more clearly articulate roles and responsibilities. The document is available to view here.
