Why does Council need a Public Art Plan?
The plan aims to enhance the Sutherland Shire’s cultural landscape, create vibrant public spaces, and engage the community through diverse and inclusive art experiences. Public art plays a crucial role in fostering a sense of place, celebrating local identity, and contributing to the cultural and economic vitality of the region.
How does Council develop Public Art?
The Public Art Plan is guided by the following objectives, which align with the Sutherland Shire’s broader strategic vision and priorities. These objectives provide clear, measurable goals for integrating public art into the community and enriching public spaces. The objectives are:
The Public Art Panel evaluate and assess all public art proposals against the prescribed criteria of the Public Art Policy. The Panel will be responsible for making recommendations to the Executive and Council through the Responsible Officer.
