Policies Under Review - June 2025

Consultation period: 5 June 2025 - 3 July 2025

Council has drafted the following policy and would like your feedback:

Draft Provision of Kerb-Side Hardstands Policy

A hardstand typically refers to a paved or hard surfaced area for vehicles to park on.

The Draft Provision of Kerb-Side Hardstands Policy and Schedules guides how hardstands on public and private land in Sutherland Shire are designed, constructed and maintained.

This Policy helps make sure our footpaths are easy to use and well managed, whilst balancing the need for safety, parking, public infrastructure and garbage collection.

You can request the installation of a hardstand on a street through Council’s customer request process. All submissions are assessed in line with the Hardstand Policy and prioritised as candidate projects for potential inclusion in Council’s Capital Works Program.

We are seeking feedback from our community on this Policy until 3 July 2025:

Following community consultation, Council will review and consider all feedback. Some changes may be made to the Policy. It will then be finalised and reported to Council for adoption. The final policy will be available on this page and on Council’s website.

We will keep interested members of the community updated.
