Update on Heathcote Playground Consolidation

We thank our community for feedback on the proposal to consolidate two playgrounds within close proximity to each other in Heathcote - Eltham Place Reserve and Sesquicentenary Park.

Following the consultation period, a report was prepared and considered by Council at the June 2024 meeting. The Council decided to endorse the recommendation to consolidate the playgrounds at Eltham Place Reserve and Sesquicentenary Park.

We will now proceed with the plans to renew the playground at Eltham Place Reserve and start to design a play space with an increased range of play equipment catering to a wider range of ages. We will share the draft playground design with our community for feedback later in 2024.

Once the renewed playground at Eltham Place Reserve is complete and reopened, we will remove the playground at Sesquicentenary Park and restore the area to open space. This is expected to happen in early 2025.

Based on the feedback we received from our community, we will also be investigating options for enhancing Sesquicentenary Park for our community to enjoy for other uses, such as a walking track. We will keep interested members of our community updated on progress.
