Our libraries are valued community spaces where people of all ages can discover, relax, create, connect and learn.
Our Library Strategy, adopted in 2022, provides a long-term vision and roadmap for library services across Sutherland Shire. As part of our ongoing planning, we’re reviewing the Strategy to consider changing community needs, emerging priorities and new opportunities for our libraries over the next five years.
We’re proud of the progress we’ve made so far, such as:
Opening of Kirrawee Library+
Introducing the Library of Things
Providing out-of-hours library access
Increasing community outreach and pop-up services
Delivering a diverse range of programs, events and services.
To plan for the next chapter, we want to understand what is most important to you when using our libraries and how we can improve the spaces, collections and services we offer. Don’t currently use our libraries? We want to hear from you too!
Saturday 21 November, 8am – 1pm, Shire Farmers Market, Eton Street car park, Sutherland
Friday 4 December, 4:30pm – 6:30pm, Cinema Under the Stars, Biddy Giles Park, Kirrawee.
In writing to Libraries, Sutherland Shire Council, Locked Bag 17, Sutherland 1499.
Next steps
Following community consultation, Council will review and consider all feedback as we update the Strategy. The draft Strategy will be shared with the community for further feedback in mid-2027.
