What is the Open Space and Recreation Strategy?

    The Open Space and Recreation Strategy is a key informing strategy under Council's Integrated Planning and Reporting framework. The Strategy outlines the key outcomes which will contribute to enhancing active lives in the unique and valued open spaces of the Sutherland Shire.

    Who was consulted?

    Council worked closely with stakeholders and used information from a range of community surveys to develop the Strategy.


    Where can I find more detail about what specific projects are planned for our open spaces?

    The Open Space and Recreation Strategy sets direction for the next 20 years. Studies and planning to identify and plan for specific projects will be progressively undertaken. Details about specific activities or projects will be included in the four-year Delivery Plans and annual Operational Plans as the projects are detailed.

    What happens next?

    The Sporting Bodies Working Party will be engaging with sporting bodies on the draft Strategy.

    Council will consider and/all submissions before finalising the Strategy.
