Naming Competition - New Community Park at South Village

Help us name Kirrawee's newest park and WIN!

The community parkland and playground at South Village is now open and we need your help to give it an official name. You can take part in two ways, by entering a submission for the name and then by voting on the shortlisted finalists!

NAMING CRITERIA

Your name submission must fit in to one of three categories, in line with Council's Naming of Public Open Space & Facilities Policy and the Geographical Names Board's guidelines:

  1. Kirrawee locality: Names that reflect the characteristics of the Kirrawee locality, including natural features, flora and fauna, etc. Example: Cockatoo Park
  2. Sutherland Shire's history: Names that acknowledge the heritage of Sutherland Shire including historical events. Names could also recognise noteworthy citizens, acts of bravery, community service, and exceptional accomplishment.
  3. Aboriginal culture and heritage: Names that are connected to the Aboriginal culture or history in Sutherland Shire. Final selection will require endorsement by Council's Aboriginal Advisory Committee and La Perouse Local Aboriginal Land Council.

You may submit as many entries as you like.

The Geographical Names Board has supplied a list of park names classified as “generic” and they will not be accepted. Download the list here. Submissions that may cause offence or defame others will also not be considered.
