Planning for Kurnell Flood Risk Management Study and Plan

Consultation has closed. Further opportunities to provide feedback will be available in 2027 when the draft Flood Risk Management Study and Plan is placed on public exhibition.

Sutherland Shire Council, in partnership with the NSW Government, has engaged Worley Consulting to prepare a Flood Risk Management Study and Plan (FRMSP) for Kurnell including catchment areas across the Kurnell Peninsula including Greenhills. See the full study area here.

The Kurnell FRMSP will help us understand local flooding issues and develop practical, evidence-based flood mitigation priorities that are eligible for state government funding support.

As part of the flood risk management process, homes and businesses along Captain Cook Drive will be modelled to understand how overland flow paths impact emergency access routes and the surrounding catchment areas. Findings from these additional investigations will be incorporated into the FRMSP.

Have your say

We’re now collecting information from residents to better understand local conditions and past flooding events, and to gather ideas on potential flood risk management measures. Your feedback and experiences will directly inform the updated study and plan.

Please share your thoughts by Sunday 15 March 2026:
