Homelessness Policy Review

chalk drawing of house

Council is committed to reducing homelessness. We work with local services to support our community members who are sleeping rough.

We’ve reviewed and updated the draft Homelessness Policy that was last adopted in 2022. The Homelessness Policy outlines Council’s approach to working with people experiencing homelessness.

The Policy identifies our role to improve access to services, facilities and safety for members of our community experiencing homelessness. It guides our staff on how we will support other levels of government and service providers when engaging with people experiencing homelessness who may use public spaces.

We've consulted Council staff and local service providers to refine the Policy, making it clearer and aligned with best practice.

This Policy is based on the Homes NSW Protocol for Homeless People in Public Places.
