Graffiti Management Policy Review

Consultation period: 24 September – 22 October 2026

Council has reviewed and updated the Graffiti Management Policy that was last adopted in 2022.

Graffiti vandalism can impact how safe, welcoming, and vibrant our neighbourhoods feel. The Graffiti Management Policy outlines Council’s proposed approach to preventing graffiti, responding quickly when it occurs, supporting appropriate public art, and working with the community to protect public and private spaces across the Sutherland Shire.

The objectives of the Policy are to:

  • Prevent: Reduce opportunities for graffiti by implementing Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) approach, asset design, maintenance, education and community partnerships

  • Deter: Discourage offending through site activation, public art, rapid removal, surveillance, enforcement and community ownership

  • Report: Encourage residents, businesses and stakeholders to report graffiti promptly

  • Enhance: Restore and improve public spaces through graffiti removal, beautification and placemaking initiatives.

Next steps

Following community consultation, Council will review and consider all feedback. Some changes may be made to the Policy. The Policy will then be finalised and reported to Council for adoption. We will keep interested members of the community updated.
