Report recommendation and response to feedback
Thank you to everyone who shared feedback on the proposed parking changes in Engadine Town Centre.
A report to the Sutherland Shire Local Transport Forum was considered on Friday 6 March. The recommendation is for Council to proceed with most of the proposed parking changes but with no changes to Sunday parking at this stage.
The recommended changes are relatively minor but will improve overall parking turnover and availability for visitors and retail customers of the town centre. Whilst survey data indicates increasing occupancy on Sunday, it’s recommended these conditions remain unchanged and be monitored. This response considers the greater community opposition to the Sunday proposal.
Overall feedback showed a mix of views, reflecting the different needs of residents, business owners, employees and visitors. Many people supported changes that improve parking turnover and availability for customers, while others raised concerns about access to all‑day parking. The proposed changes aim to balance access for everyone, with priority given to customers who support business in the town centre in accordance with Council’s Parking Strategy.
