Tree Canopy on Public and Private Property - Ideas Board

Similar to a previous post, accessible advice would give property owners an incentive to plant native based on recommendations from an expert. I also don’t know what the rules are on planting trees on my verge.. am I allowed? The information is so hard to find. There is info about verge gardens, no info about trees.

Bonnet Bay area and more, under the high voltage power lines, trees are cut, felled by outsoared companies from trans grid and left on the ground. This needs cleaning up and appropriate natives could be planted that do not grow too tall and therefore increase the wildlife corridor here.

In our suburb we have high prevalence of the invasive species of termite, Coptotermes. I would like to protect the beautiful big gums in the garden but this requires yearly termite inspections as once is not enough. This can be an expensive exercise. Other trees in our garden have also been damaged or already lost to termites. If there is more support for protecting large trees that would be really helpful to maintain the existing trees and ensure they grow to their full potential.

Our property has large trees considered noxious weeds such as Privet and Camphor Laurel. They are expensive to remove and even once removed the roots take up space in the soil and prevent usage of the garden bed. Once removed they keep regenerating and it is difficult to consider planting another tree in their place given the hassle the current trees have already caused and are continuing to cause.
