Planning for Economic Development

Council knows how important a strong economy is for the Sutherland Shire, its future and quality of life for all who live here. That’s why we’re reviewing our Economic Development Strategy which was developed in 2018 to respond to the many significant economic shifts that have occurred around us over the last few years. Reviewing our approach will ensure our future plans remain relevant and reflect the needs and priorities of our community.

We’re seeking feedback from our community to shape the reviewed strategy. We want to hear from you about how you live, work and socialise in the Sutherland Shire:

• What’s it like living and socialising locally?
• How vibrant and available are the options for night life locally?
• Are there enough opportunities locally for employment and skills growth?
• What is your future vision for a strong and sustainable local economy in the Sutherland Shire?

We’ve partnered with .id (informed decisions) and NDP Economic Development to assist us in gathering feedback. Our survey is for local businesses, residents, employees and visitors to the Sutherland Shire.

Next steps

Your feedback will help shape the reviewed Economic Development Strategy 2026 – 2031. The revised draft Plan will be reported to Council in mid-2026 before being shared with our community for further feedback.
