Woronora River Dredging near Gweneth Thomas Wharf

Consultation has concluded

UPDATE: Following the initial letter and community meeting held on 1 October, we received feedback on the timing of the work and concerns about the alternative mooring proposed at Burnum Burnum Reserve. At the meeting it was agreed that work will be carried out as soon as possible and alternative mooring is to be provided at a temporary pontoon in front of the Woronora Lifesaving Club at Prince Edward Park.

The work will be carried out and wharf closed from 28th October until late November.

Sutherland Shire Council is planning to carry out minor dredging works in the Woronora River around Gweneth Thomas Wharf off Prince Edward Park Road and at the Rural Fire Service (RFS) boat station off Menai Road. The work will increase the water depth to improve boat access and safety.

Dredging at Gweneth Thomas Wharf is expected to take between three to four weeks to complete, weather permitting. The wharf will be temporarily closed during the work. Alternative mooring facilities are available at the jetty at Burnum Burnum Reserve. Click here to see the aerial map.

Council understands this work may inconvenience people using Gweneth Thomas Wharf. We are seeking your feedback on the preferred time to schedule the work. Please nominate your preference below.
