Draft Land Acquisition and Disposal Policy and Schedules
Consultation period: 31 August - 27 September 2026
Council's property assets play a significant role in service delivery to our community.
Our draft Land Acquisition and Disposal Policy and Schedules outline the guiding principles in the acquisition and disposal of Council land assets. This draft Policy is intended to replace Council’s current Policy, Open Space Land Acquisition Policy, which was last adopted in February 2023.
The Policy sets out the principles and framework to:
Ensure legislative compliance
Establish a set of criteria under which Council will consider land acquisition and divestment
Ensure an open and transparent process to consider acquiring and divesting land
Minimise risk
Ensure optimal financial return and value for our community.
The supporting Schedules to the Policy include:
Acquisition:
Council identified acquisition
Owner initiated acquisition (unsolicited offer)
Open market acquisition.
Disposal.
