Draft Delegations of Authority Policy

Consultation period: 31 August – 27 September 2026

The draft Delegations of Authority Policy establishes a clear and accountable framework for the delegation of decision-making powers within Council. It helps ensure Council services and operations are delivered efficiently, consistently and in the best interests of the community.

Under the Local Government Act 1993, Council grants authority to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO). The CEO may then formally delegate authority to authorised Council Officers, enabling timely, effective and accountable decision-making across Council operations.

This Policy applies to all Council Officers who have been assigned delegated authority by the CEO.
