Draft Masterplan Don Lucas Reserve, Cronulla

Don Lucas Reserve in Cronulla is a key recreational area for the Sutherland Shire.

We have prepared a draft Masterplan for Don Lucas Reserve to guide its future use. Our focus is on maintaining open space, improving connection across the reserve and protecting the heritage dunes.

We consulted with the community in October-November 2021 and your feedback has helped shape the draft Masterplan.

Improvement opportunities proposed in the draft Masterplan include:

• Coastal walkway connection completed across reserve
• Carpark upgrade
• Renew existing fitness station area and add additional stations
• Playground enhancement
• Relocation of the helipad and improved emergency access
• Active recreation extension
• Picnic facilities and / or BBQ improvements
• Improvements to the entry and lookout
• Amenity building extension
• Lighting improvements
• Tree and heritage dune revegetation.

Work is currently underway on improvements to the basketball court and fitness equipment. This work is due to be completed in August 2022. We look forward to the community enjoying these new facilities when they open.

Next steps

Community feedback received will be reviewed and considered. The draft Masterplan may be further refined based on this feedback. It is anticipated that the final Masterplan will be reported to Council later this year for final adoption. Following this, the Masterplan improvements will be delivered in a staged approach.
