Dogs on-leash: Woolooware Bay Shared Pathway

Consultation period: 6 April to 27 April 2022

Sutherland Shire Council is seeking community feedback on the option of permitting dogs to be walked on-leash on a one kilometre section of the Woolooware Bay Shared Pathway.

Dogs would need to be on-leash and under control at all times on the pathway between Atkinson Road in the south to Shorebird Reserve in the north (view Map).

A range of protection and mitigation measures identified in a Review of Environmental Factors (REF) Addendum would also need to be implemented if this option is adopted. These measures include:

• Improved education and signage about endangered shorebirds
• No-go zones for dogs within important areas of habitat
• Installation of mesh screening along the boardwalk railing to block the sight of dogs from the shorebirds
