Renewal work at Darook Park North, Cronulla

Consultation period - 12 July to 6 August 2021

Council is restoring the environmental condition and amenity of the northern end of Darook Park, Cronulla to ensure it remains a high quality reserve for community recreation while protecting this important site.

The reserve contains endangered vegetation and significant Aboriginal heritage. The project will conserve these important features. Interpretative signage will be used to promote the site's natural and cultural heritage values.

The concept plan for renewal work at Darook Park North includes:

  • Bush regeneration and weed removal
  • Seating and amenity improvements
  • Interpretive signage
  • Foreshore remediation and protective fencing
  • Realigned beach access to reduce erosion by offsetting the entry points
  • Preservation of the area’s natural and cultural values
  • Vehicle turning area to prevent vehicle damage to reserve
  • Bioswale to reduce impact of stormwater runoff.
