Council is restoring the environmental condition and amenity of the northern end of Darook Park, Cronulla to ensure it remains a high quality reserve for community recreation while protecting this important site.
The reserve contains endangered vegetation and significant Aboriginal heritage. The project will conserve these important features. Interpretative signage will be used to promote the site's natural and cultural heritage values.
The concept plan for renewal work at Darook Park North includes:
Bush regeneration and weed removal
Seating and amenity improvements
Interpretive signage
Foreshore remediation and protective fencing
Realigned beach access to reduce erosion by offsetting the entry points
Preservation of the area’s natural and cultural values
Vehicle turning area to prevent vehicle damage to reserve
Bioswale to reduce impact of stormwater runoff.
