Cooper Street Reserve Masterplan and Recreation Opportunities - 2020/21

Consultation Period: 30 September to 28 October 2020

Background

Cooper Street Reserve in Engadine is a key recreational area for Sutherland Shire and Council is looking at ways to improve how the space is used and provide better opportunities for recreation. The improvements will be aimed at supporting active lifestyles both now and into the future.

Existing facilities at Cooper Street Reserve cater for a range of recreational activities, such as children's playground, skate park, basketball shooting key, barbeques, picnic tables and walking/cycling track.

We want our open space to accommodate our community now and as it grows and changes, a key outcome in Council’s Open Space & Recreation Strategy.

Consultation Period

To assist Council to plan for improvements and to ensure they meet the needs of residents in Sutherland Shire, Council is seeking initial feedback from the community from 30 September to 28 October 2020 on three key survey topics; the Cooper Street Reserve Masterplan, a proposed All Abilities Playground and a proposed Active Sports and Youth Precinct.

Cooper Street Reserve Masterplan

We are seeking creative ideas for recreational opportunities across these four major zones:

  • All Abilities Playground
  • Active Sports and Youth Precinct
  • Open Space and Short-Term Event Activation
  • Amenities and Facilities

Proposed All Abilities Playground and Active Sports and Youth Precinct

We are seeking usage information on the current playground, skatepark and basketball facility, as well as looking to gain insights in to what type of play concepts and creative ideas our community would like to see.
