Concept Design – Eltham Place Reserve Playground, Heathcote

playground

Consultation period: 24 February to 25 March 2025

After consultation with our local community, Council is excited to provide an update on the playground renewal and consolidation at Eltham Place Reserve and Sesquicentenary Park, Heathcote.

Council has endorsed the recommendation to consolidate the playgrounds at Eltham Place Reserve and Sesquicentenary Park. A proposed concept design has been developed for the playground at Eltham Place Reserve that will provide a play space with an increased range of equipment catering to a wider range of ages.

The proposed concept design includes:

  • A new playground with slide, swings and rocker
  • Loop path for bikes/scooters
  • Pathways joining to existing paths to improve accessibility
  • New amenities including a picnic table, seating and rubbish bin.

Community feedback helped shape this concept design as follows:

  • The softfall is being replaced with a combination of mulch play bark and synthetic grass
  • A new shade structure will be installed and additional trees planted
  • We are investigating opportunities to improve Sesquicentenary Park once the existing playground is removed. We are inviting our community to share ideas in the survey below.

Have your say

To assist Council in finalising the concept design, we are seeking your feedback.

You can provide feedback until 25 March 2025:

  • Online by taking the survey below
  • Email OpenSpace@ssc.nsw.gov.au
  • In writing to Open Space Assets, Sutherland Shire Council, Locked Bag 17, Sutherland 1499

Next steps

Council will review and consider all community feedback. We may make some changes before the design is finalised.

It is expected that work will start on the playground in the second half of 2025. We will keep our community updated on progress.
