Over the past 12 months, Council has drafted a new Community Leasing Policy. Council recognises the importance and contribution of community-based organisations to the Sutherland Shire. The Policy was developed in consultation with representatives from the organisations which occupy buildings on Council owned or managed land and we are inviting the community to have your say.
It will:
Provide principles for clear and equitable management of leases of community buildings by community, pre-school and sporting groups
Combine and replace the current Community Leasing Policy (1993) and Pre-School Leasing Policy (2010).
Confirm Council and occupant responsibilities including Council assuming responsibility for structural repairs and maintenance.
Why is Council changing the Community Leasing Policy?
To give current and future occupants a consistent and compliant approach for their agreement with Council.
Meet legislative obligations under Local Government Act 1993
