Draft Use of Public Open Space by Commercial Sport and Fitness Trainers Policy
Consultation has concluded
We have reviewed and updated our Use of Public Open Space by Commercial Sport and Fitness Trainers Policy.
The revised draft policy applies to Commercial Fitness Trainers and extends to Commercial Sport Trainers who are utilising Council managed public open space within the Sutherland Shire. This includes all parks, stadiums, sports fields, sporting facilities, beaches, footpaths and open spaces/reserves.
Our policy aims to ensure equity of access to public parks, reserves and other open spaces. It also ensures that commercial sports and fitness training activities are delivered in a way that minimises the impact on surrounding residents, protects public infrastructure and addresses public risk and concerns.
Fees and charges are reviewed annually and form part of Councils annual budget and operational plans, and schedules of fees and charges.
The development of fees and charges are benchmarked with other Councils and have carefully considered the resources, time, cost and maintenance which goes into servicing and safeguarding Councils open space assets.
Following the recent review, the policy has been amended to add references to:
- Commercial Sports Trainers
- Type of equipment that is permissible
- Updated exclusion zones.
