Playground renewal and consolidation – Brigalow Place Reserve and Croston Road Reserve, Engadine

We're excited to let you know that we are planning to renew the local playground at Brigalow Place Reserve, Engadine. We are seeking our community’s input as we prepare a design for the new play space.

The playground at Croston Road Reserve, Engadine, located an 8-minute walk (500m) away, is at the end of its serviceable life. It has been identified that playground is suited mostly to younger children and is not well used.

We have reviewed the suitability of all playground locations as part of a Shire-wide analysis, to ensure they are in the right locations, fairly distributed across all areas and cater for our community’s needs now and in the future. You can read more about the playground analysis in the FAQs.

Council is proposing to consolidate Brigalow Place Reserve and Croston Road Reserve playgrounds to provide a play space with an increased range of play equipment. Croston Road Reserve would be returned to open space (keeping the existing seat and concrete footing). All homes within Engadine will continue to have walkable access to a playground.

The opportunities for Brigalow Place Reserve include:

  • New playground equipment
  • Increased range of play equipment
  • Improved play and softfall material
  • New seating, footpaths, shade structure and landscaping.

Have your say

We’re seeking feedback on how the area is currently used and what improvements would be best suited for this local playground, as well as our plans to consolidate with Croston Road Reserve. You can provide feedback until 9 November 2025:

  • Online by completing the survey below
  • Email IPPTeam@ssc.nsw.gov.au
  • In writing to Infrastructure Project Planning, Sutherland Shire Council, Locked Bag 17, Sutherland 1499.

Next steps

Following community consultation, Council will review and consider all feedback received. We will then prepare a draft design for the playground. When the draft design is ready, we will share it will our community and seek feedback before it is finalised. We expect the playground renewal will start in the first half of 2026.
