Cronulla Town Centre Stage 2 Stakeholder Reference Group - Expressions of Interest

Consultation has concluded

Council has worked closely with the community over the last 5 years on the revitalisation of Cronulla Town Centre. The next phase is establishing a Stakeholder Reference Group to assist with the concept design for the Town Centre.

The Stakeholder Reference Group (Reference Group) is a partnership between Council and the community. The aim of this group is to work towards ensuring the new design for Stage 2 of Cronulla Town Centre is responsive to local needs, delivers value for money and makes a positive difference for our local community.

Background

The Cronulla Town Centre is a unique and iconic location, strongly valued by both the local community and visitors to the area. It has significant historic, recreation and community value, and coupled with the surrounding beaches, forms a strong part of our area’s cultural identity.

An initial design competition explored the qualities that contributed to the Town Centre’s distinctive character and explored aspirations for the future. This was followed by the development of a Cronulla Public Domain Design Strategy, and after extensive research, collaboration with urban design experts and consultation with community and key stakeholder groups, the Cronulla Town Centre Public Domain Master Plan was prepared and adopted by Council in 2018.

With the Master Plan in place, Council has commenced the next stages of planning and delivery of the Town Centre revitalisation, with a range of components expected to be progressed over coming years.

Staged delivery of works commenced in 2018 with the upgrade and modernisation of Ocean Grove.

The next significant phase is the development of a concept design for the Town Centre Area.

As a member of the Reference Group you will be representing the interest of your local community and you will work alongside Councillors and Council team members to help deliver a world-class design for Cronulla Town Centre.

We need people who will:

  • Actively engage with the broader community to draw out and bring to the reference group ideas and feedback to inform the design of Stage 2
  • Work collaboratively and cooperatively as a member of the reference group to achieve the best outcomes for the greatest proportion of the community
  • Provide feedback through your community networks on the Stage 2 concept development.

Anyone meeting the above requirements and aged 18 or over is encouraged to participate. Meeting details are included in the Terms of Reference. Members must be able to commit to attending all meetings.
