Why is Council proposing to remove unattended watercraft from public reserves and foreshores?

The storage of watercraft in reserves can impact our community’s ability to enjoy the land by taking up valuable space, restricting access and creating hazards. It can also impact the environment by damaging trees, causing visual pollution and detracting from the character of the foreshore. Above all, unattended watercraft are stored without approval.

How many areas are impacted by unattended watercraft storage on public land?

In the Sutherland Shire there are over 15 foreshore reserve areas that have unattended watercraft on public land. Over 230 watercraft are stored across these areas.

What foreshore areas in the Sutherland Shire have unattended watercraft stored on public land?

There are several sites where unattended watercraft are stored on public land in the Sutherland Shire, including:

    • Darook Park, Cronulla
    • Gymea Bay Baths Reserve
